A portrait appointment and a birthday party need different plans. For portraits, we can spend the time on lighting, expressions, outfit changes and a small number of carefully chosen setups. For a party, the priorities may be guest photographs, family groups, decorations, speeches and cake cutting. Let us know which experience you need before choosing a package.
Adult and Milestone Birthday Portraits
Celebrate a new decade, an achievement or simply another year with photographs that feel like you. A clean studio look, colourful balloons or a relaxed outdoor setting can all work. You do not need modelling experience: your photographer guides your posture, hands and expressions. Start with one visual direction, then choose clothing and a few intentional props rather than trying to fit several unrelated themes into a short session.
Kids and Family Birthday Photography
For a child’s birthday, plan around their normal meals and rest rather than the busiest part of the party. A familiar home, an agreed outdoor setting or a studio appointment may be suitable depending on their age and comfort. First Birthdays and Cake Smash Requests
If you are planning cake smash photography for a Scarborough family, mention it when you inquire. Cake arrangements, allergies, cleanup, décor and the location need to be agreed before booking; do not assume they are included in an ordinary birthday portrait package. Families near Guildwood, Cliffside, Agincourt, Wexford or the Scarborough Town Centre area do not need to travel between several landmarks to get variety. One agreed location with a short shooting route is often more useful than losing session time to driving and parking.

Do not assume the same rules apply to every setup or that a public park gives exclusive access. The City lists Guild Park among its commercial photography booking locations; check the official photography booking guidance before committing to a date or elaborate setup.
Thomson Memorial Park or a Nearby Approved Location
Thomson Memorial Park, listed by the City at 1005 Brimley Road, is another location to discuss when planning a park-based session. Share your preferred meeting area and any mobility needs so we can assess a manageable route. A smaller nearby park, your home or an approved private venue may be the better choice for young children or a short appointment.
Confirm current location rules, parking, access and any required permits before booking. The City’s facility booking guidance explains that formal or commercial setups requiring exclusive space or interfering with other visitors need advance booking. Location charges are separate from the photography package unless specifically included in your quote.
At-Home Sessions, Party Venues and the Studio Alternative
For an at-home birthday photoshoot in Scarborough, send a description of the room, available space, access and planned decorations. We can discuss a portrait area without disrupting the celebration. For venue coverage, include the guest count and the times of important moments so the photographer can plan around the event rather than guess the schedule.
If you prefer controlled lighting and a weather-independent portrait appointment, consider our Richmond Hill studio. Confirm the appointment and setup before travelling. For an outdoor session, agree on the rain plan beforehand; an indoor switch or reschedule depends on availability and the booking terms.

Outdoor and studio packages include pose guidance and allow two outfit changes. Additional time is $100 per hour and extra edited photographs are $10 each. A $50 deposit secures the booking after availability and details are confirmed. Selected photographs are typically delivered within 3–5 business days after you choose your favourites.
The $200 outdoor portrait package is not a blanket price for full party coverage, cake smash or elaborate décor.
