When a person cannot travel to a ServiceOntario centre because of a medical condition or mobility limitation, arranging a suitable identification photo can become difficult. Green Day Photography provides a respectful mobile Ontario Photo ID photography service for clients in long-term care homes, hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, assisted-living residences and private homes across Toronto and the GTA.
We bring a compact professional setup to the client. The session can be completed in a familiar and accessible environment, with help from a family member, caregiver or facility coordinator when needed.
Who Is This Mobile Photo ID Service For?
This service is designed for people who are medically unable to attend a ServiceOntario location or who have significant difficulty travelling because of a physical disability or reduced mobility. It may be suitable for:
- Residents of long-term care and assisted-living homes
- Hospital and rehabilitation patients
- Wheelchair users and people with limited mobility
- Homebound adults and seniors
- Clients recovering from an operation or serious illness
- Families arranging identification documents for a loved one
You do not need to move the client to a photography studio. We adapt the camera height, background and lighting to the available space while keeping the process calm and efficient.

Photo Specifications We Can Provide
Many families and care coordinators who contact us have been instructed to provide a larger printed photograph for a medical accommodation application. When the client’s instructions request it, we can prepare the photograph with the following specifications:
- 9 × 11-inch print
- Matte photo paper to reduce glare when the image is copied or scanned
- Clean white background
- Even professional lighting with minimal facial shadows
- Full face clearly visible
- Neutral, relaxed expression
- Head positioned straight and facing the camera
- Natural colour and accurate skin tone
Requirements may differ depending on the client’s application and medical accommodation. Please send us a photo of the letter or instructions supplied by ServiceOntario, the care facility or the person assisting with the application before the appointment. We will prepare the image according to those written instructions.
Important: Confirm the Accommodation First
Green Day Photography provides the photography and print service; we do not issue Ontario Photo Cards and cannot approve an application. The Government of Ontario states that accommodations are available when a person cannot visit a ServiceOntario centre for a medical reason. The applicant or their representative should contact ServiceOntario before booking to confirm the required process, documents, print dimensions and number of copies.
For current government information, visit the official Ontario Photo Card page.
How the Mobile Appointment Works
1. Send Us the Instructions
Before confirming the visit, share the exact photo requirements you received. This is especially important if the request specifies a 9 × 11-inch matte photograph, a white background or a particular number of prints.
2. Coordinate With the Facility or Caregiver
For hospitals and long-term care homes, a family member or facility representative should confirm the room, visiting rules, parking information and the best time for the resident. If the client requires assistance sitting upright or adjusting their position, that support must be provided by their caregiver or medical team.
3. We Bring the Photography Setup
Our mobile equipment includes a professional camera, compact lighting and a portable white background. We only need a small clear area and a few minutes to set up. The equipment can be adjusted for a client seated in a chair or wheelchair.
4. We Check the Portrait Carefully
We verify focus, facial visibility, expression, head position, background and lighting before leaving. When the client needs extra time, we work patiently and take multiple frames so the strongest compliant image can be selected.
5. The Requested Print Is Prepared
The selected image is professionally corrected without changing the client’s natural appearance. When specified in the instructions, it is supplied as a large 9 × 11-inch matte print on a white background, suitable for the receiving office to review, copy or scan as part of its process.

Preparing for the Photo
A little preparation helps the appointment go smoothly:
- Confirm the written photo requirements before booking.
- Choose clothing that contrasts with a white background; medium or dark solid colours usually work well.
- Avoid white tops, reflective jewellery and clothing with large logos.
- Keep hair away from the eyes and face.
- Remove tinted glasses, hats and headphones unless they are required for medical or religious reasons and permitted by the instructions.
- Plan the visit for a time when the client is normally most comfortable and alert.
- Ask the facility about visitor access and room availability in advance.
Respectful Service in Care and Medical Settings
Every appointment is handled with patience, privacy and dignity. We keep the equipment footprint small, follow reasonable facility procedures and avoid photographing medical documents or unrelated people. We never post or reuse a client’s identification portrait without permission.
Our role is limited to photography. We do not provide medical assistance or physically transfer a client. A caregiver or qualified staff member should be present when positioning support is required.
Areas We Serve
Mobile appointments are available in Toronto and many GTA communities, including North York, Scarborough, Etobicoke, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham, Thornhill and nearby areas. Travel availability and the final quote depend on the location, parking and facility access requirements.
If the required document is a Canadian passport rather than an Ontario Photo Card, see our mobile passport photo service in Toronto. The two services may have different specifications, so please tell us exactly which document is being requested.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the 9 × 11-inch photo the same as a regular ID photo?
No. It is a much larger print that some clients are specifically instructed to submit during a medical accommodation process. We provide this size when it appears in the instructions supplied to the client.
Does ServiceOntario accept a privately taken photo for every applicant?
No acceptance should be assumed. The applicant or representative must first contact ServiceOntario and confirm the accommodation process. We create the photograph to match the written instructions; the government office makes the final decision.
Can you photograph someone in a wheelchair?
Yes. We can position the camera and background for a seated client. The chair does not normally appear in the final head-and-shoulders portrait.
Can the appointment take place in a hospital room?
Yes, when the hospital permits the visit and there is enough safe space for a compact background and light. A family member or staff contact should arrange access before we arrive.
Do you use a white background and matte paper?
Yes. When requested, the finished portrait is photographed against a clean white background and printed on matte paper to reduce reflections.
How much does the mobile service cost?
The quote depends on the destination, travel time, parking, facility access and the number and size of prints requested. Send us the location and the written photo requirements for an accurate quote.
