Planning a maternity photoshoot should feel exciting—not like another expensive item on your pregnancy checklist. One of the most common concerns we hear from expecting mothers is that they want beautiful, polished portraits but do not want to purchase a special gown they may wear only once.
At Green Day Photography, selected maternity dresses are available to our photography clients at no additional cost. You can arrive with fewer things to carry, choose a look that suits your style and enjoy professional direction throughout your session. Our Toronto-area maternity experience also includes complete posing guidance, a comfortable ground-floor studio with no stairs and the option to add professional hair and makeup.
Whether you prefer a dramatic editorial portrait, a soft and timeless studio look or a flowing romantic gown, we help you plan a session that feels personal and comfortable.

Maternity Dresses Included With Your Photoshoot
You should not have to spend hundreds of dollars on a dress simply to create beautiful maternity portraits. Our client wardrobe includes selected gowns that can be used during your booked maternity session without an additional dress-rental fee.
Before your appointment, we can help you decide which available dress best matches:
- Your preferred photography style
- Your comfort level and pregnancy stage
- The studio background and lighting
- Your partner’s or children’s outfits
- The type of portraits you would like to create
The available collection includes fitted silhouettes that define the baby bump, flowing dresses that create movement, and statement gowns for more dramatic studio portraits. Availability and sizing can vary, so we recommend discussing your preferred dress when reserving your date.
Burgundy Tulle Maternity Gown

Our deep burgundy tulle gown creates an elegant, dramatic look that works especially well with controlled studio lighting. Its off-the-shoulder ruffled neckline, layered sleeves and long flowing train add movement and texture while keeping the baby bump as the centre of the portrait.
This dress is a strong choice for clients who like:
- Editorial maternity portraits
- Rich, romantic colours
- Dramatic full-length photographs
- Dark or neutral studio backgrounds
- A combination of standing and seated poses
Your photographer will position the train, adjust the fabric and guide your hands and posture so you never have to determine the pose by yourself.
Ivory Fitted Maternity Dress

The ivory fitted gown creates a bright, clean and timeless maternity look. Its soft draped neckline and delicate floral shoulder details add interest without distracting from your expression and baby bump.
Because the silhouette follows the body naturally, this dress photographs beautifully in both full-length portraits and closer images. It pairs well with soft window light, neutral studio settings and simple outfits for a partner or older child.
This option is ideal if you prefer:
- Light and airy maternity photography
- A clean modern studio style
- Minimal accessories
- Natural portraits with a polished finish
- A dress that clearly defines the baby bump
Dusty Rose Flowing Maternity Gown

Our dusty rose maternity gown has a high gathered neckline, flowing skirt and long cape-style panels. It creates beautiful movement when walking or turning and offers a softer alternative to darker editorial gowns.
The muted pink colour works with a wide range of skin tones and photographs well against cream, beige, grey and softly lit studio backgrounds. We can use the flowing fabric for gentle motion while maintaining a natural, comfortable pose.
This gown is a good match for clients looking for:
- Romantic maternity photographs
- Soft movement and flowing fabric
- Elegant full-length portraits
- A modest neckline with a fashion-inspired shape
- Both colour and black-and-white final images
You Do Not Need to Know How to Pose
Most of our maternity clients are not professional models, and they do not need to be. Every Green Day Photography maternity photographer provides direction throughout the session.
We guide:
- Hand placement
- Shoulder and chin position
- Comfortable standing and seated poses
- Angles that flatter the face and body
- Natural interaction with a partner or children
- Small movements that make flowing dresses photograph beautifully
Instead of repeating the same pose in every image, we create variety using changes in camera position, expression, movement, lighting and composition. Our goal is to help you look confident while still looking like yourself.
Optional Professional Hair and Makeup
Professional hair and makeup can be added to your maternity session if you would like a more complete studio experience. This service is optional and should be reserved in advance so we can coordinate the artist and your photography time.
Your look can remain natural and understated or become more polished for editorial portraits. The goal is not to make you look like a different person. Good maternity makeup should photograph cleanly, complement the selected dress and help you feel comfortable in front of the camera.
When requesting availability, let us know whether you would like:
- Makeup only
- Hair styling only
- Both hair and makeup
- A natural or more glamorous finish
We will confirm current availability and the additional cost before your booking is finalized.
A Comfortable Ground-Floor Studio With No Stairs
Comfort and accessibility matter during pregnancy. Our studio is located at ground level and does not require clients to climb stairs. This makes arrival easier, especially during the third trimester or when bringing dresses, shoes and family members.
The studio provides:
- Ground-floor access
- A private place to change outfits
- Professional studio lighting
- Multiple backgrounds and shooting areas
- Space for partner and family portraits
- A controlled indoor environment in every season
Toronto weather can be unpredictable, but a studio maternity session is not affected by rain, strong wind, extreme heat or winter temperatures.
Can My Partner or Children Join?
Yes. Partners and children are welcome to participate in the session. We can begin with family combinations before moving into individual maternity portraits, or adjust the order based on a child’s age and energy level.
Family outfits do not need to match perfectly. Neutral colours and simple clothing usually coordinate well with the available maternity gowns. For a more detailed explanation of colours, fabrics and outfit planning, read our separate What to Wear for Maternity Photos guide.
How the Dress Selection Process Works
1. Reserve Your Maternity Session
Review our current Toronto maternity photography packages and contact us with your due date, preferred session type and ideal dates.
2. Tell Us Which Looks You Like
Send us screenshots or names of the gowns you are interested in. We will discuss availability, approximate fit and which backgrounds will work best.
3. Confirm Hair and Makeup if Required
If you would like professional hair or makeup, request it before the session date so the artist can be scheduled. This is an optional paid addition and is not included automatically.
4. Try the Dress at the Studio
Arrive early enough to change comfortably. Your photographer will help position the fabric and plan poses that suit the design of the selected gown.
5. Create a Variety of Portraits
Depending on your package and available time, we can create individual portraits, partner photographs, family images, close-up details and full-length gown photographs.
When Should You Book Your Maternity Photoshoot?
Many clients schedule maternity photographs between approximately 28 and 34 weeks, when the baby bump is clearly visible but movement may still feel comfortable. The ideal timing can be earlier for twins or adjusted according to your comfort and healthcare provider’s advice.
Booking during your second trimester gives you a better chance of securing your preferred date, dress and optional hair and makeup appointment.
